Book 4: reflection

Literary Analysis:
The character that I find somewhat odd but nice is Caitlin who is also the main character and the narrator in the book mockingbird , she has Asperger's syndrome which is a condition were children can become socially awkward or not understand social norms but they can excel in a subject in an advanced level. With Caitlin she is a master artist and people in the book comment about it, she also likes drawing birds but an interesting thing about her drawing is that she does not like to draw things in color only in black and white as she says If you mix red and yellow than you get orange and if u mix it again you get a different orange

Caitlin is considered a modern hero in that she tries to come to terms with what happened to her brother and what happens to people around her, also because of her condition she cannot understand empathy and thus tries to actually find it rather than understand it characters around her are not actual heroes but try to accept what happened. one character is Caitlin's father who is most effected by it and is so broken that he would cry in front of Caitlin or try to get out of the room when she's around. though she does not understand it she can easily see thru his lies. an interesting thing about her is that while she does not understand empathy she can read peoples faces easily knowing when her father was lying and when her counselor is annoyed she can tell and figure out what not to do in the situation

She is also a modern hero in that she tries to understand others and tries to learn with her actions do to others. She also tries to figure out the situation to anyone else of what happened and does not necessarily get what people are trying to do but she still wants to realize what's happened one trait is that she does not like looking at people in the eye and its that this trait is realized when Caitlin is in Devon's room and tries to draw him and was able to draw everything except his eyes. She talks about him as she draws him (116)  I draw Devon's eyes in the top left corner. in the top right corner I draw his mouth with his lips curled up to show he's happy , I draw his crooked nose in the bottom left corner. his chest is in the bottom right corner. its still not finished. and I guess it never will be.

I think that the character is a likeable person in that she is like a more upfront version of Scout from to kill a mockingbird  which she actually says in the book. She fits into Jennifer wieners argument but in the opposite sense because since she has Asperger's and thus does not think the same as everyone else and her interpretations on things are either different or more point blank and I think that it gives a new perspective on people that have Asperger's or a similar condition.

A characters that can compare to Caitlin is Scout from to kill a mockingbird because she is almost similar to her in every other way. they are both young girls that are tomboys and never really act like a girl they cannot tell right from wrong in some situations, and they usually learn something or if they don't get something they learn it from their brother from scout Jem, and from Caitlin Devon that cant really tell from right and wrong and that they usually learn something from their brother in Caitlin's case Devon.

5 Reasons why Rhine from Sever is a pessimist

Rhine lives in a world where the immortals have a curse of living in a perfect body but at the price of living in for only 20 years and as such she believes that it would end horribly for her

She doesn't really believe in what people tell in especially if its in a positive outlook

Even when people try to she only dismisses it and tries to think for what could've happened

1- She believes in nonexistence

When characters die in her life she believes that they wouldn't exist anymore and that they have disappeared from the earth. she tries to think of an after life but the struggles she faces thru the story make her think differently on everything and she becomes more filled into despair. This thought is always in the story because the time limit that everyone has because of the disease as they call it ends life immediately as such Rhine always think whenever the outcome of something is always bad she gives in.

2- She hates blindness

When Cecily, a friend of Rhine acts all happy and carefree somewhat angers Rhine to where she wants to yell at her and make her see the reality but she does not knowing of what her life was like. example would be when her sister wifely loves linden so she would do anything to please him like how she would betray Rhine  shouldn't necessarily mean to out of hate and she somewhat her and when her husband linden she feels guilty posing linden to the world and doing everything to his life

3- She is scared of superstitions

When she escapes the mansion and travels thru the country she meets a fortune teller and she describes the future Rhine would be in and though she does not necessarily fear what would happen she is scared of it actually happen and is completely paranoid of it happening through the book. what turns out to be true is that somebody does die in the exact way that it was said and she tries to come to come to terms that it happened.

4- She does not like medical facilities

Though she does think of herself as a bit odd due to her eyes she despises the medical facilities in that her parents where killed because they were trying to find a cure and that it would bring meaningless hope to anyone and thus hates being around them and she becomes more saddened because her brother now bombs them and she realizes is that it was only for selfish gain. also in the 1st and 2nd novel she is tormented to experiments set up by Vaughn to study her eyes and she t helpless the whole time and when she has finally escaped she becomes somewhat scared of being alone in a hospital room or building all together

5-Vaughn

Her father in law Vaughn did unjust things to her and those around her and who she cares for and throughout all 3 books she expresses her distaste for him yet could never stand up to him and only sly her way thru the conversations. the perfect example is when she sees thru Vaughn's trickery and when Cecily's child becomes stillborn Vaughn tries to lie by wording his way thru the arguments to get Cecily and linden to come with him to the mansion. though she do at some point believe in what Vaughn says but quickly tries to dismiss it.

Blog post #5

I think that when a story would be considered non fiction would be that when you can relate to the story so well that you can even have a story of your own of what would happen because when you can relate to it that easily you could possibly think of yourself being in the story and living it out and if its so relatable be able to predict what could happen next or be shocked what could happen next.

Yes have truths are okay , because Laila Lalami a writer quotes "When your writing non fiction to me its based on fact, naturally in the process of writing there are going to be things you remember differently than other people" and she talks about when people write about a personal experience they are going to remember it by their memory and personal experience, and when James Frey does talk about the accident that occurred between the 2 students he did lie on that he caused it but he most likely wrote on how he felt when it happened

No, mostly because though when we read a novel we don't really care what genre it would be if we loved the story so much we would pretty much ignore the genre altogether and try to just continue reading the story and even if it were non fiction or fiction a majority of people would put their place in the main characters to want to get a glimpse of what it would be like

Blog post 4

The specific challenge a filmmaker would have in developing this film would be the abilities shown to the main character Alex as the effect caused her to have the ability to read the actions of others with her sense of smell which allows her to have the actions though of ahead which moves the book forward also in the book her sense of smell starts to enhanced and she's able to tread the enemies movements but she starts to worry that shell become like them in the near future so what I would change is that she starts to instead be able to read thru there actions instead

the connection towards Alex and the town of rule especially its citizens specifically Sarah and tori which are a side plot but there actions start to affect the main plot

the previous group Alex was with who were tom and Ellie, because in the previous book Ellie was taken by a group for her being young and unchanged and tom was injured and told Alex to go and in the book , some parts are told to what happened to tom and what he is going to do to try and find Alex while Ellie is still missing and is unheard of but still mentioned throughout the book

The plot event I would most definitely take out would be the section were Alex has to provide health care to the changed when she learned from Kincaid in rule and when she had to go to there base there was pretty much an orgy like literally she described what was happening in detail and it was just uncomforting seeing how they are wild now

another part would be when a scene plays out of tom trying to help someone that was drowning the reason for this is because in the book the only light source tom describers in the book is the moon and he says it gives off a pale green color and because of that tom pretty much sees complete blackness and I think that should be taken out of at least changed as there would be nothing to see thru toms or the viewers perspective

What is a book

A book is a human brain, the thoughts are all there except it could never be thought all at once and all the same great people that though never read or thought of reading and writing always leaves an impression or a new perspective on life to think about, a line that I always remember is "once upon a time" the line that always makes the person think on what is going to happened next, in a sense its like seeing colors "is your red my red" you say that the thought of it for this reason but people see it as another reason but not thinking that they can deny or accept because there not sentences that they made their sentences that they try to interpret there's no real perfect interpretation of it there's only a thought,

I believe that books are meant to stay in the format they were made of, like primary sources to a historical event nobody would want to destroy the paper only preserve it, so to those that want to preserve the books should stay in history just not cause of how famous it was but the fact that It had its own page, ink used for, and cover for significance gives it a reason to stay

book !

Currently my book is shadows by Ilisa J. Bick and the story behind it is post-apocalyptic and in that the main character tries to survive from people who have their brain changed to a wild primitive frenzy state and hunt other people and she tries to survive it, to how it became like this it had an electromagnetic wave sent across the world which is like a complete shutdown of all and anything that carries an electric charge. Because of this some characters have shown superhuman qualities that are enhanced which the main character, Alex with the enhance feelings to her sense of smell, so she is able to sense the characteristics of a person thru there scent which could be similar to the medical condition synesthesia and wild animals are also affected as they do have brains as well, birds fly in different directions as its internal compass is mixed, dogs are now more intelligent and understand what humans would say and also unique to them is that they have the ability to distinguish when a person will turn into their frenzy state or not

My idea for this book to previous fans it to have a book that could explain how to hunt and the best possible items to use when hunting, as the book makes the world somewhat go to a primitive state no electricity is used so the characters resort to using the old style of using guns and weapons and having basic knowledge of medicine.

Also having a book on training dogs , trying to have them be able to fight back will easily help if facing something dangerous and be able to fight on their own as well be able to listen to your commands with ease, if they can bark than they can surely bite.

I believe that this idea will work is because back then humans would use wolfs in a similar manner and possibly in fact learned it from wolfs in that when facing something large they would try to attack it but only to get it weak than when it would be tired then they would strike, hunting is still use now but more in a pride sport of way, but in this book it’s the simple line “hunt or be hunted” that really is the represents the story of the book.

In the story Alex is trying to run away from the feral humans and at the same time tries to confront her feelings towards those around her as she had the thoughts of death around her

“Her arm was there. So was her hand. But wolf held a scrap of something drippy and wet and very red and--. Oh my god her breath, bottled in her chest, came in a sobbing rush. What spider had begun, wolf had finished. Horrified she could only watch as wolf inspected a flap of parka and skin and dying muscle. Her muscle her heart was banging in her ears. Her flesh”.

To others people would naturally go in to a state of shock but learning how to control themselves can easily not go insane from seeing something so gruesome and try to figure out a way to prevent something like that

My idea will still connect to the fans by giving that feel to the book of hunting and maybe if you do hunt and something starts to chase you and you know what you have to do then it will possibly give that flight or fight rush feeling and gives you a sense of how the characters actually felt In the book. Though it is generally an impossible situation it could actually assist in an event where there will be no police force to protect you and you’ll be able to fend for yourself, an example being that you are lost and in need to survive and hunting for a long time.
